New Year is coming…

Every where you turn right now, the reminder that Christmas is near and the new year is coming surrounds.

With a new year we all know what happens…. everyone sets new year goals. Though everyone has the best intentions in doing so, the truth is by week 2 and 3 most of those goals have gone out the window.

I personally absolutely love the idea of setting goals. I love tracking habits. I love it all. I THRIVE in that. Absolutely, positively thrive in putting whatever I want to achieve (long term or short term) on paper and visually being back to read it. Studies show you are much more likely to achieve things you write down. In fact, 42% more likely. Gail Matthew’s study is one of the most cited studies to prove this.

Writing helps with clarity, memory, and commitment. A goal kept only in one’s head can stay vague; writing it “locks in” what you really mean. That clarity helps you plan, prioritize, and stay accountable.

More broadly, goal-setting — especially using structured approaches — tends to support better focus, persistence, and motivation

Combining written goals with action plans and accountability increases the odds of success even more. In the study associated with Matthews, groups that wrote goals, made concrete action steps, and— in some cases — shared progress with a friend had the best results.

You can find habit trackers and goal setting templates everywhere. You can simply write down your intentions and hope on a piece of notebook paper, a notepad, a sticky pad…. anything. Really anything you can keep up with and see each day.

I put together a couple in use myself. Save the PDFs if you’d like. They are simple. You can even save them and make them tillable in your files if you are more into keeping things on your phone.

I truly encourage each and every person to give it a shot. If you have never tried before, try it this year. It truly doesn’t hurt to try.

Let’s crush this new year!!!
